Special Education

Special Education is central to much of what happens at CEED.  We have a strong reputation for our Toddler Developmental Groups.  Our teachers are highly credentialed professionals who are continually raising their own standards of practice.  Our program is literacy based and incorporates a strong emphasis on the development of language skills through daily activities in the classroom. We utilize a variety of approaches at CEED, including TEACCH, Pecs a d Floor -time.   We also have classrooms that apply the principles of ABA which entails the use of positive reinforcement, continuous measurement of learning and data analysis based on graphic data. In addition we offer one to one ABA to support the student in the classroom.

I like the collaborative model of CEED; however, how can you claim to have ABA-based classrooms and not have any certified behavior analysts on your core CEED team?

Thank you for writing. We meet the New York State Department of Heath regulations for an Early Intervention Center providing ABA services. We have a consulting ABA professional who visits weekly to supervise, review and train. Two of our providers have completed the ABA curriculum and are ready to sit for the exam. Did you know that all our providers are professionals, Special Education Teachers certified to work particularly with the age range? Unless you are a licensed professional, you cannot be an ABA provider for our classification of program at this time. So for us, an ABA credential is not enough. We appreciate your interest.
