One our teachers, Barbara, told me a wonderful story yesterday. She has been working with her 3 year old group on same and different and what’s missing. A parent reported to her today that her child was playing with his Mother at home, asking for items to determine if they were “same or different” and looking at his environment and telling his Mom “what was missing!”

What a child learns at “school” is important. But being able to take what he learns into the rest of his world, or generalize his skills, is the true measure of successful learning!

At CEED notebook communication is used to convey what we are doing to the family. You can pick up any of our content and try it out at home. Join us in being your child’s teacher.

Do you have any stories that you would like to share?

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your action and support regarding Governor Cuomo’s Proposals for Early Intervention Reform.

By you actions, you have given your representatives in both the Senate and Congress a strong message and mandate. You have been heard! Both Houses have moved not to support the Governor in the most grievous of his proposals.

However, we are not yet done.

It is not clear what and when Providers will be paid. A new fiscal authority will be formed to make claims to Third Party payers (Medicaid, Private Insurers, etc.) on behalf of providers, exhausting all possibilites before making claims for payment to the State.

Providers cannot afford to wait until all the possibilities have been exhausted. We need to be paid the rate and within the time frame that we have negotiated with the state.

Please spell this out to your representatives in Albany on both the Senate and Assembly.

Pay the providers in a timely fashion and at the rate agreed upon with the State.

Continue to support your providers, so we can continue our work with of your child and family!

Thanks you!

Sue

One of the very special features of CEED is our trans-disciplinary approach. Our educators and therapists have daily access to each other. We change programs as needed, and do not necessarily need to wait a month for a meeting. Our providers are intimately aware of each others goals and objectives. We support each others goals in everything we do. Here’s an example. Johnny requires many services, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Special Education, occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. The occupational therapist is working on sitting in a chair for circle time. She has noticed that when she sits him on a ball during circle, he is more focused and interested. All the other disciplines will now try the child on the ball during their treatment time to insure that they can get the same results. Then it is shared with the family as a technique that can be utilized at home. Our ability to communicate and support each other on a second’s notice is a very important feature in our model. CEED gets wonderful results, and we believe this is one of the reasons why.
